The Brain in Motion (BIM) Research Study at the University of Calgary is exploring how exercise impacts cerebral blood flow, and cognitive function in older adults at increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Participants, ages 50-80, enrolled in either a six-month aerobic exercise program or a six-month stretch and strength program.
From August- October 2025, six Brain In Motion participants took part in a 6-week, Digital Storytelling Workshop, facilitated by the Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit (AbSPORU) Patient Engagement Team. Each participant created an impactful first-person video capturing their personal experiences of how physical activity can support brain health and the impact of the Brian in Motion program.
